Invitation to the 1st Adriatic Drug Addiction Conference on treatment, harm reduction and rehabilitation and to the 1st Central and South Eastern European Symposium on Addictive Behaviours: substitution treatment, regional networking
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
From May 21 to 22, 2003, the town of Poreč in Croatian Istria will host the 1st Adriatic Drug Addiction Conference on treatment, harm reduction and rehabilitation. On May 23, 2003 a one-day satellite symposium: The 1st Central and South Eastern European Symposium on Addictive Behaviours: substitution treatment, will take place in Portorož, Slovenia.
Both events, the conference and the symposium are a common international project of four partners: the Croatian Centre for Outpatient Treatment of Addiction Poreč, the Slovene Coordination of Centers for the Prevention and Treatment of Drug Addiction and the Departments of Mental Health and Addiction at the University of Trieste, Italy and the Sound of Reflection Foundation, Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The 1st Adriatic Drug Addiction Conference on treatment, harm reduction and rehabilitation of drug addicts will be the first conference of this kind in the region. Apart from the experts from countries along the Adriatic coast and from Central and South Eastern Europe we also expect colleagues from other European countries and the USA to participate. The positive response to the preliminary conference program shows the rising interest of the experts from various countries to establish contacts and share their own knowledge and experience with colleagues from other environments on an occasion like this.
We believe that the mutual efforts of the institutions of the three neighbouring countries which have undertaken the organization of the conference show that the problem of drug addiction is not a national one. Joint actions where the country frontiers are no longer important would bring better chances for drug users and communities in the whole region.
As it may be seen out of the preliminary program, the conference is supported by many respectable individuals and institutions from all over the world. It is needless to say how important it would be for a successful conference outcome to have you at the conferences and to present your research findings, thoughts, comments, questions and suggestions which will be given proper consideration.

We need an electronic version of your abstract. Please keep within the space provided in the form. Use 10 or 12 point font size / Times New Roman and do not exceed 250 words.
Abstracts shall not be accepted by fax.
All abstracts will be peer-reviewed and judged on their relevance to conference and symposia topicality.
Acceptance of abstracts will be confirmed by April 15, 2003.
ONLY ABSTRACTS ACCOMPANIED BY REGISTRATION FORM AND REGISTRATION FEE PAYED BY APRIL 30, 2003 WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR PRESENTATIONS.
All accepted abstracts will be published in the abstract book that will be available at the conference
